Build your career tree — freeWhat a career tree is
The OriaFlow career tree is a visual map of every realistic next role from your current position. Unlike a general "career advice" tool, every branch is scored based on YOUR background — Fit, Chance, and Risk for each path — with gap analysis showing exactly what stands between you and each role. It is not just what others in your title have done. It is what is realistic for you, right now.
Example: Senior Backend Engineer career tree
CURRENT ROLE
Senior Software Engineer
Backend · Fintech · L5 · 7 YOE
Staff Engineer
Promotion
Strong distributed systems match. Needs more scope ownership evidence.
Engineering Manager
Management
Some leadership signal. Needs formal scope — target Series B–C.
Principal · Platform
Specialization
Solid infra depth. Gap: needs cross-org influence evidence.
ML / AI Engineer
Pivot
Gap is significant. Consider ML infra role as stepping stone.
What each branch tells you
Fit, Chance, and Risk scores
Each branch is scored against real job requirements for that role type — not just a title match. You see how realistic the transition is before you invest effort in it.
Gap analysis per path
For each branch, Oria identifies the specific skills, experience depth, scope of ownership, or proof points standing between you and that role. Some gaps are cosmetic. Others require concrete steps first.
Transition type label
Every branch is labeled: Promotion, Lateral, Management, Specialization, or Pivot. This helps you understand the nature of the move and what hiring managers will expect to see in your application.
Expandable sub-branches
Click "Explore deeper" on any branch to see what comes after it. Want to know what follows Staff Engineer? Or what Engineering Manager leads to? Expand any node to see the next level.
Advance when you land the role
When you land one of the branch roles, mark it as your current position. Oria rebuilds the tree from your new location — keeping your history and generating fresh paths forward.
Frequently asked questions
How does Oria generate my career tree?
Oria builds your career tree from your profile — your current role, years of experience, tech stack, domain, and any goals you've shared in chat. It generates a set of realistic next moves (typically 4–6 branches) including promotion paths, lateral transitions, management tracks, and domain pivots. Each branch is scored for Fit, Chance, and Risk based on how your specific background maps to that role type.
Is the career tree based on real career progression data?
The career tree is generated by Claude (Anthropic's AI model) based on its understanding of role structures, industry norms, and your specific background — not a database of individual career histories. The scored paths reflect realistic transitions grounded in what the AI understands about how people typically move between these roles, informed by your specific context.
Can I advance a branch if I actually land one of the roles?
Yes. Once you land a role, you can mark it as your current position. Oria regenerates the tree from your new position, building fresh branches from your new role while keeping your historical path visible. Your career OS evolves with you.
Can I explore deeper paths from a branch node?
Yes. Any branch node can be expanded to show what comes after it — for example, what roles come after Staff Engineer, or what comes after Engineering Manager. You can explore multiple levels of your career trajectory before committing to a direction.
Does the career tree include non-engineering paths like management or product?
Yes. The career tree is not limited to IC engineering paths. It can include engineering management tracks, tech lead to principal tracks, transitions into product management, solutions architecture, technical consulting, and more — depending on what is realistic from your specific background.
How is the career tree different from LinkedIn's "Career Path" feature?
LinkedIn's career suggestions are based on aggregate profile data — what titles people in similar roles moved to. OriaFlow's career tree is generated from YOUR specific background, scored against actual role requirements, and includes gap analysis per path. It tells you not just what other people have done, but what is realistic for you — and what you need to close to get there.
